Just south of Swami's, the world-class surfing destination, is the San Elijo campgrounds. And, north of the grounds, facing the perch that is Swami's is an incredible vista looking down and over the beaches of Cardiff by the Sea. For the past week, I've been working on this drawing from graphite sketch to white and black gouache accents.
I'm most interested in achieving more space in my art, so I have been working explicity in this fashion until a few explorations and experiments are worked out. It quite suprising how many shades of grays can be achieved by using different leaded pencils and then washes of gouache–all on toned paper. |
