In October of 1999, Bob Weir's Ratdog came to Denver's Paramount Theater for his annual Halloween bash. For weeks, I had been staring at a copy of "The Art of the Fillmore: The Poster Series 1966-1971". Thoughts of Wes Wilson and Bill Graham were in constant motion. Oddly enough, a week before the Ratdog shows, I woke up with the image of a pumpkin wielding Reaper
and Illustrated Dreams was born. I printed up 40 4"x6" handbills and gave them away Halloween night to fans as they left. I was hooked.
An open door to Boulder's FOX Theater put me in front of the art director and I was handed a list of upcoming shows to choose from. Derek Trucks was my first "official" poster., The Motet, Soundtribe Sector 9 (STS9), and The Floodplain Gang where just a few of the other bands I illustrated for the FOX. A year later, and through the good advice of my mentor and friend, Michael Everett, I landed the ultimate poster gig–creating the 2003 performance of Widespread Panic at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco. It being the one year anniversary of guitarist, "Mikey" Houser's passing, the poster commemorated his life and music with an image of "the Sun" dreaming for the Moon.
Today, Illustrated Dreams has grown from a collection of poster artwork to a body encompasing custom vector arwork, illustrated books, character illustrations, concept artwork, cd covers, flash animations, gouache paintings and colored pencil drawings.
